Recently, US Silver Half-Dollars, have been carrying a higher premium, than US Silver Quarter-Dollars and Dimes. For one dollar, face value, today's price was $22(USD) or $11 per half-dollar. And $20, for Dimes & Quarters, $2 & $5.
With, Half-Dollars, I, usually, stick with older dates, or ones in better condition. It also seems that when one hits one-hundred-years old, the overall price/value goes up a bit. There was a time when the 1955 Benjamin Franklin Half-Dollar was the key-date, being the lower mintage. Today, they, and other key-dates, pop up frequently. Common circulated Franklin's, basically, go for the same price, lowest premium. So it should not be too difficult to put together a complete collection of Silver Franklins, in circulated condition.
A few one-hundred+ year old Barbers find they way into the "junk box".
These US Silver Coins make for good Fractional Silver, too. Since, it takes $1.40 ($1.38) to equal one-Troy Ounce Silver, fourteen dimes would qualify as Fractional Silver. In the early, 1960s, a loaf of white bread was about ten cents, when dimes were 90% Silver. Thanks for looking.
