En lo alto de un promontorio a mas de seiscientos metros de altura divisa todo el Valle del Genal hasta la costa está construido sobre roca caliza y sus restos mas antiguos son del siglo X.
At the top of a promontory over six hundred metres high, the whole of the Genal Valley to the coast is built on limestone and its oldest remains date back to the 10th century.
Conserva en buenas condiciones su entrada y la parte más baja está bien conservada y cuidada.

Algunos cañones y aspilleras le dan el toque defensivo al lugar pero la vegetación bien cuidada y una ermita en el interior cambian el aspecto a una zona para pasear y disfrutar de las vistas.
