Here are a few ideas for making a good book trailer on a low-to-zero budget.
Shoot on an iPhone or find someone with a DSLR.
Stay as close to characters as possible. Although with book trailers especially, a lot of people prefer not to see the faces entirely. It leaves more to the imagination.
Keep locations minimal and controllable.
Hire local talent.
Have talent furnish their own wardrobe if possible.
Don't rely on stock video. It's a tool at best. That said, here's a site with some terrific resources.
Avoid still frames. For real, it'll look spammy.
Keep it short! 60-seconds is great. 30 or under is better.
Share on social channels like Reddit, D Tube, and Steem It!
Send to literary and niche blogs and show them this cool thing you did.
