Welcome to the Alien world of Lomography Purple

In this post, dyptre walks us through a quite unusual film stock and shares his impressions. LomoChrome Purple creates quite a suprising color shift that might make you think it's infrared. This color negative film, however can be developed with the standard C41 chemicals and the results have this interesting purple tint.

The film has high infrared sensitivity reportedly up to 900nm. This means plants all turned a stunning vibrant red, and vehicles and buildings remained dark. The idea was that this would help the military see between the trees easier to spot potential enemies. ...But as you can see from these images - that's not quite what lomochrome purple does.

Adventure Photography - Getting a shot when your buddies are there to ski

How to guide and photograph fellow skiing enthusiasts without asking them to pose or be in a certain spot? It's the big challenge this author faces when out in the mountains. Much like regular street photography, the goal is to capture spontaneous moments in time without disrupting the flow of other skiers. alpinelifer@alpinelifer has some pretty valuable tips on how to achieve just that.

I have been photographing candidly like this for a few years. Sometimes I can tell the group to stop and look stoic but often I am bouncing around trying to photograph them as they are. I have learned to anticipate where they are going to be ahead of time so I can set myself up in a good spot.

WISDOM - The 'Principle' Thing...

Do you know about the original anecdote of why different animal species have certain amount of legs assigned to them? You might want to check out angryman's version of it and read about the part he took in decision making, back in the biblical times. You guessed it, this is quite a hilarious story only the angryman could come up with and it took an unexpected turn at the end.

The fist time God asked my opinion about something was long before I was born - way back in those seven days of creating the universe. I was still just a happy, little, cute Cherub flapping around Heaven at the time...

The Campervan is almost finished: The results of months hard work

As promised, Sascha continues documenting the project of building a camping van with her boyfriend. This time we can read about assembling kitchen appliances, sleeping bed and an unpleasant but important part of making a working toilet. She also created the electrical system by herself - what better way to know your moving house than with a hands-on experience!

The kitchen was also an important part. I wanted to have enough space to cook comfortably, and a big fridge with a freezer inside. I love yoghurts with frozen fruits and freezing in delicious leftovers of the delicious meals my Chef boyfriend cooks for me (Yes I did a good job. Get yourself a chef girls!)

How To Draw The Figure - The Envelope Method

One big challenge when starting to draw body figures is staying in between lines and making sure proportions are done correctly. Here Robbie shares a helpful technique of sketching the borders first and then working inside them that will ensure more accurate representation of the subject's figure.

In this video I show how to draw the figure using the 'envelope method'. This method is part of the block in stage right at the start of figure drawing. By sketching an accurate 'envelope' shape initially specifically for your figure to fit into, you train your eye to truly see what it is you are drawing, and it also aids the artist in getting correct proportion and accuracy.

The Deer of Richmond Park

Cath has shared several posts about the Richmond Park already, but in this special article we get to meet its' gorgeous inhabitants - Red and Fallow deer. These magnificent creatures are rarely seen and, depending on the season, prefer not to be disturbed by humans. Author was able to get close enough which resulted in these 3 stunning images. Do you think she should reconsider her beliefs and do more wildlife photography? :)

Richmond Park was created by King Charles 1 in 1637, as a hunting park, surrounded by an 8 mile brick wall to prevent the deer from straying. The deer herds have remained in the park ever since, and are an iconic presence in it's landscape.
