Good article. IMHO, there is no such thing as full decentralization/centralization. Every system will have varying degree of centralization/decentralization and everyone can judge where each system is tipping towards.

Personally, I think for blockchain based projects to compete with their centralized counterparts, the only way to do it is to offer a differentiating factor. Say if Steem is fully centralized and led by a dominant figure, how will it ever be able to compete with the likes of Facebook or Reddit?

On the other hand, if Steem is somewhat decentralized, this offers a differentiation in the market of social networks. There are billions of people on this planet and everyone has different taste. There will bound to be people with a preference for decentralized platform. This is just business marketing 101.
