White jasmine ( Jasminum polyanthum ) is a fast growing evergreen climber with highly fragrant white flowers. It is a very common garden plant in Sydney, as it is easy to care for, has few pests or diseases, and the flowers have a heavenly scent. As well as being used for a climber over a trellis or pergola, it can also be used as a ground cover, where it will hang or spill over retaining walls. I have also seen it used in hanging baskets.
Some regard the White Jasmine to be a weed or invasive plant, and it is easy to agree. However, with a little work it can be controlled and be a useful plant in the garden. This plant is native to China and Burma ( Myanmar).
