When you think of BIG creatures, you may think of dinosaurs or elephants, but there is one animal that is truly king! Blue whales are the largest and strongest animals to ever exist on earth. They are warm blooded mammals who breath air. An adult male can reach a length of nearly 33 meters or 110 feet and weigh up to 200 tonnes or around 400,000 pounds! And you though you were fat? They have a lifespan of 80-110 years. Blue whales live in all oceans of the world and are on the endangered species list, although through massive conservation efforts, their populations are increasing. (Yes!) One interesting fact is that scientist believe that whales may have at one time lived on the land and may be a relative of the hippo. Who knew!
