I have now stripped away anything that would turn into popcorn-sized buds and spread out the top two colas with some garden wire. This has given me better light coverage.
I also wanted to note the light. It's not as powerful as I would like but it's what I have at the moment.
Fingers crossed that it doesn't shoot up much further! 馃
