Sending warm wishes of peace and comfort to the Steemit community on this wonderful Winter Solstice evening.

For those of us living in the norther hemisphere, Winter Solstice is a very welcome milestone in a long and dreary season. From this day forward each day grows incrementally "longer". While we're really only talking additional seconds per day, it makes a difference from a psychological perspective just knowing that the long, dark, and cold days will eventually come to an end.

A time to relax, recharge and be at peace...

A cup of hot honey mead, a warm cozy wood fire, and a good book on a long winter night all have the power to soothe us into a sense of appreciation for the turning of the season.

Solstice is such a great time to unplug from the negative news media, the excessive pressure to perform, and the unending barrage of Holiday marketing messaging. It is a time to give ourselves a break from societal pressures and simply recharge our sense of satisfaction and joy.

Even if only for a day, let's enjoy "being", rather than "doing".

An opportunity to deepen our gratitude...

Winter solstice is a wonderful time to reflect and renew our commitment to
an attitude of gratitude for all that we have and will be. It is a time to ponder renewal and rebirth as we wait for the frozen ground to soften, and the first tenacious crocus buds to boldly breach the permafrost, returning us the beauty of flowers after a long slumber.

Little doubt exists that gratitude is the antidote to unhappiness. It's impossible to feel sad and sorry when our thoughts are focused upon all for which we are truly thankful. This mindset appears to contain a strange and inexplicable power to help us achieve our goals in life with a degree of ease.
