I think you are right. The SEC has been intimidating everyone up to the point they took on XRP. Everyone elese settled and walked off.
I also agree that this could be incredibly important if the judge rules XRP is not a security, as we would have one legal precedent to help guide crypto projects from this point on...
It remains to be seen whether COngress will take up the courts rulings and make them law, as a way of reigning the SEC in and settling some of the questiout crypto?
The irony here is that many in crypto have a low opinion of XRP due to the premine which enriched the early leaders, but now find ourselves having to suppport them, as they use some of their riches to fight a common enemy. I hope this doesn't lead to more projects like XRP.
