In life, we have the notion of the past, the present, and the future.

The same can be applied to how we view our crypto life and our life in Hive.

Let's examine the differences, to see what might be the most helpful view we can have as Hive investors and users.

First, the past.

OK, there isn't anything that can be done about the past, so let it go. The thing is I bought some Hive when Hive was beyond a dollar. That was a mistake in hindsight, at least for now. But there isn't much I can do about reversing that decision. Just let it go, I say.

Second, the present.

By present, I mean one's time horizon is fixated on the happenings now. The price, the posts, the comments... that are happening around now. Yes, certainly these are the things that are real now, as they unfold. I mean, as I write, I am aiming to post it in a few moments so that my content would be current. Same goes for my replies as comments.

That is about the only thing happening now that I as a Hive user should be paying attention to. Not the price, unless it goes way lower and I want to scoop more Hive up. In short, these are the only things my mind should be occupied with, with reference to what is happening day to day.

Lastly, the notion of the future, or future thinking.

Personally, I think this is the most important as far as crypto investment goes in this nascent stage of the blockchain revolution. Many people had written about the importance of taking a longer-term perspective and that is easily appreciated.

The main message in this post is this:

Even more important than investing Hive for the long term, it is more important to build a system that involves the Hive life that could support ease as we progress.

Simply put, we should be thinking long-term in Hive by working on building a system that works for us.

There are two aspects of Hive life that matter to me (others may have more). They are my Hive as an investment portfolio, and Hive as my blogging account.

Both of these need longer term thinking.

For the investment side, there should be a clear and cogent plan to work on value increment and accumulation. Be it DCA, swing trading, lumpsum investment, or profit-taking plan. We need to devise a plan, refine it and use it. Do you have one?

For the Hive blogging side, what are the goals related to the account? Number of followers by 1 or 5 years? Number of accmulated post or comments by when? Brand and theme of the account?

Once we have some of these goals, we can strategize accordingly to work toward them.

Here comes the kicker. And thanks for reading till this point.

Why do I entitle this post "Think longer term in Hive: Building a system as an approach"?

I think the earlier we settle down on the Hive investment and blogging goals and plans, the better. We would have initiated the building of the mode of operation or approach for our Hive life.

This will be helpful because we can then focus on the present, the day-to-day operations, which is actually the thing that we are most likely to enjoy. Such as writing blog posts, and commenting, all in alignment with the longer term plan.

In reality, I think the longer term thinking and planning never indeed stop because what we should be doing is to keep refining the approach. Successful organizations are like that, they have long-term goals and the approach to reach them. These are the things that give it stability and efficiency.

P/S: This is not financial advice, and please do your own due diligence before investing.
