I've been meaning to write about this for some time because we've been living in times when people confuse being fans of a club with fanaticism.
Initially I was going to focus on what was happening in Portugal, but with the recent events in Brazil, it's clear that this is not just something that exists in Portugal.
In Portugal there is a great lack of sports culture, what we have is fanatical people insulting each other on social media defending their clubs.
One of the things that confuses me the most is when there is a publication from cube X most of the comments are from club Y fans talking bad about the club. Is this normal? No.
But it's okay, I'll still give this for free.
Now, the situations that occurred in the games of the selection of Portugal are the height of the height.
Portugal played a game at the Alvalade stadium (Sporting CP stadium) and João Mário (a player from rival Benfica) was whistled by most people in the stadium.
In another game, this one held at Luz stadium (Benfica's stadium) Octávio (Porto player) was whistled by most of the people who were in the stadium.
But does it make sense to whistle players who represent our country even if they represent a rival club during the season? Of course. From the moment they are at the service of the national team, we cannot look at players as the player from club X or the player from club Y.
In this way, we are only going to create bad feeling in the players and with which they can think about resigning from the national team and in this way, the one who loses is our national team because it loses players that are more valuable to it.
On the other side of the Atlantic, I remember two situations that make no sense to me.
The first one was a few months ago, and it even happened more than once.
A supporter of club X went to see his team's game, but he only got a ticket for the supporters of club Y. As a normal supporter, he wore his club's shirt.
The supporters of club Y, when they saw him, attacked him and forced him to take off his club's shirt. In the other situation, the person was attacked and ended up having to be removed from the bench so that there were no more problems.
Although there are distant areas for supporters of both clubs, you cannot start attacking or forcing people to remove their clothes just because that area belongs to the other.
The other situation is more serious, as there was a death of a supporter who had nothing to do with the situation.
A supporter who was working to get to her team's games was caught in the middle of a fight between two rival clubs in Brazil and ended up being attacked with a thrown glass bottle and died after a few days in hospital.
Of course not, that is, the exact opposite.
Sport should be something where people should have moments where they have fun and live their passions.
At the moment it seems impossible to have that kind of hobby since we could be going to the stadium and maybe not come back or be attacked.
