It's one of the most utopian (or dystopian) visions of AI.
On the one hand, an ideal algorithmic system doesn't accept bribes, doesn't act out of revenge, and doesn't suffer from biases or momentary impulses of anger. (It would also eliminate a lot of corruption.)

On the other hand, for an AI to predict or stop crimes, constant monitoring would be necessary (cameras, sensors, real-time data tracking), ending individual privacy.

The attempt to create a perfect utopia (where there is no crime or need for punishment) carries the real risk of building an algorithmic tyranny.

So, I'm still going to hate cops.
