When you join, even with limited resources (like me), you still have plenty of room to improve. After a brief analysis of your presence on HIVE, I’m leaving you these suggestions to quickly optimize your curation and benefit from it.
1- Always vote 50% on the posts you support. You may not know this, but the voting system has changed since the beginning of the year. Before, we needed to manage the percentage of votes (their value) to reach more people.
Now, it doesn’t work that way. It’s not the percentage (value) that matters; it’s the number of votes, which depends on how much HP we have. The ManteCurated app itself states this: “Constant value per 100% vote. VP affects vote quantity, not value.”
In practical terms, the 50% you don’t use—someone else will absorb it: usually large accounts. They aren’t being greedy, mind you. You’re the one providing that.
A 50% vote is a good percentage for a Snap. For posts, increase that. I see you like to vote for stakeholders who produce good content. Raise it to 75% for them. Usually their posts are well-rewarded, and deservedly so. The return for you will be greater. For other posts, from users with lower HP, with more modest accounts like ours, if it’s good content, vote 100%. For other posts that are less polished but deserve support, 90%, 80%, 70% or so.
With this, your Geni will move toward values closer to zero (higher percentage), and the distribution will be fairer and more vibrant.
2- I see that you delegate more than half of the HP you have. That’s not good for you. Obviously, I don’t want to influence you, but I hope you understand my perspective.
HP is what you need right now to curate. The amounts you delegate are insignificant to those who receive them, but they’ll make all the difference to you.
Liotes.voter is a project created by cool people who love HIVE; they’ll understand that (if you withdraw your delegation). They’ll realize that right now, you’re the one who needs it most.
Brandleyarrow is an extraordinary person; he’ll understand this calmly.
But I understand that you want the daily/weekly returns from the delegations. If that’s your strategy, it’s acceptable.
Delegations generate controversial discussions; they often venture into the realm of subjectivity. We’re on a decentralized network; we must respect all arguments.
Personally, I recognize the importance of delegations in only two cases: 1) when the user doesn’t have time to curate (there are many such cases) and lends their HP to groups that compensate them with returns. 2) In very large accounts—whales and orcas—who take on the role of patrons/sponsors, helping curators make the system fairer and more vibrant. (But requiring strict adherence and monthly reports).
I delegated myself in my first year. After analyzing it carefully, I came to the conclusion that with the HP I had (not even 5K), it was more beneficial to use it for my own curation than to rely on the returns I was getting. I didn’t even hesitate.
