So I was participating in a writing workshop. This place was previously a monastery which has some resident monks from time to time. At about 6.30 am I walked into the dining area to notice this monk having breakfast. I sat across him and smiled. He didn't smile back, so I did not start a conversation. About 15 minutes later, he starts speaking in broken English! He said, " Everything changing always". I was clueless so I asked for clarification. He held the coffee jug and poured some in his mug. Then he said, "This coffee in jug different is changing. This coffee in mug is different is changing". Finally, he said, "Like coffee, everything in world change every moment, including us!" Finally, I understood him. That was my introduction to the theory of impermanence. 👍
