I can still remember having headaches as far as I was in my primary school because I used to cry with my head on my desk and then my teacher would let me go home because of that. Little that I knew that it would be start of my kidney failure.
Then in my elementary days I wasn't so athletic too, in fact I was weaker than my classmates because some of them could do some nice push-ups in our physical fitness test while I myself could do as much compared to them. Plus they are playing basketball after class while I myself can just watch. That was actually the onset of my chronic fatigue syndrome and I was also getting terrible headaches time after time, it was like something where I would vomit kind of a headache.
Then come my High school years where the terrible headaches also plagued me and with that also affected my studies not because of the headache but because of a brewing Kidney failure which will come later in the year 2001. I went to my high school in the start of the 90's and also during that time I am not able to participate in basketball or volleyball team tournaments.
In my second year high school I remember going home very, very fatigued. I am so tired that I could no longer get up from my bed. All the while of course I thought that it was just normal but little that I knew that it was not. Of course I have no clue what was going on. Also there was a time that one of my classmates showed that he can crumple a softdrink bottle crown while I myself could not.
Then it was also the onset of getting urinary track infections which is actually coming from the kidneys and not from the track because I was already getting the tea-colored urine to red.
My eldest brother also was taunting me that I am having a period at that time also because of my unusual urine color. I also was getting the "chills" more often like every two weeks as I could remember it. I was also getting a loin pain which I didn't complained to my mother because I thought it was just normal.
Until I developed the froth in my urine at around third year High School. Still the same complaints, CFS, tea colored urine, the chills, infections of the "urinary track" which by then we are going to an internist doctor to treat my infection which would recur because the origin actually was my failing Kidneys.
Later in my third year high school I was rushed to a big hospital in Manila because I had these Lymph glands in my neck grew in size like near tennis ball in size. I had an edema in my face that reached my neck. It was from an infection originating from my Kidneys that the tablets could not control already so I was treated with intravenous antibiotics and diuretics which my body had responded. So in just three days we got discharged to the hospital.
Then my studies got affected although my grades are not that bad though compared to my other classmates but I could not excel no matter how I tried to study hard. Later I knew that having a blood problem that is associated with a failing Kidneys affects our cognitive performance because the brain isn't getting enough oxygen in an optimum level.
I survived High Schhool but later in College I just said "That's It I'll Stop" and I did because my diet in those years consists of saltless and I mean no salt whatsoever in my food that is why until now I am develop a dislike in salty foods until now. My mother's belief that if I would not eat salt it would be good for me because my kidneys will not be burdened by filtering it out.
The excessive water intake continues as well because my mother would scold me when I develop a recurring infection again telling me that I wasn't drinking enough water and ugh! those leaf, root tea concoctions that I also drink pints at a time rally took a toll in my body that my finger tips had began to crack already. So I just stopped going to College abruptly as my grades are already failing. The headaches never left me until later as a dialysis patient after my red blood cells began to improve for a miraculous reason, my insomnia, and headaches got cured and my appetite also improved but later went to zero again because of Cinacalcet that I took in the past couple of years already.
