Mantra means in Sanskrit: Instrument of thought [suitable].
The first mantras were found in VEDAS, Indian sacred books 3000 a.C.
It comes from Hinduism and Buddhism.
It consists of two other words: MAN = thought, mind and TRA = instrument.
A mantra is a sound that has meaning, aims to remember something important.
Normally it is prescribed by a master, according to the need of the neophyte.
You can associate mental repetition, verbal or intoned (loud voice) with rhythmic breathing.
You can also associate the mantra with a YANTRA, that is: a symbol.
I'll talk about Yantra in another post.
Do not worry, everything is very simple.
You can understand the Mantra as a self-affirming phrase.
It is fundamental, knowing the meaning of the mantra, you have to know what is reciting, regardless of the language used.
We can consider the mantra as an instrument of thought.
A spiritual formula for connection to the Supreme.
It is not uncommon to be used for other purposes, such as love and money.
