I've seen at least one company in Japan that is looking into setting up a legal framework for tokenizing real estate. The idea they have is crowdfunding the purchase of a large apartment building, with tokens to represent ownership shares of the building. Owning the tokens would entitle you to a proportional share of rental income from the building's tenants.
