One of the tycoons of the technology sector in the United States, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, is not a supporter of metaverse technology. This came in statements made by Cook in a press interview last weekend, saying: “I think it is important for people to understand what Metaverse, and I'm really not sure the average person can tell you what it is.” Cook's comments may explain why Apple has not announced any future plans to adopt metaverse technology in its tech activities.
On the contrary, others see metaverses, a virtual reality world to be used in people's interaction, work, shopping and play, and among the most famous who have adopted metaverses in their work is the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, and Microsoft and Disney have announced plans to adopt this technology.
The former CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, sees some confusion and inconsistency over the definition of metaverse.
Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap, called the idea of metaverse "mysterious" and decided instead the company would move forward with augmented reality (AR) technology.
Cook is also a big proponent of augmented reality, with Apple reportedly developing an AR/VR headset that could hit the market in 2023.

Cook explained that the future of augmented reality "will go much further" than its current applications.
He added: "In the future, we will look back, you will wonder how you lived your life without augmented reality, just like today, we ask: How did people like me grow up without the Internet?"
