Great initiative! Talking about these things is something we need to bring up the volume on. I was thinking of posting something in HIVE Improvement, but haven’t had the time. I see that @therealwolf is trying to bring some life back over there. The fall off in activity just about everywhere is concerning …
Anyhow, just to share my thoughts in response to your post, I agree that the search functionality needs urgent attention, like you said, and it’s being addressed with @good-karma building https://hivesearcher.com/, so that’s good.
However, as @fernandosoder and
@enginewitty comment, expiring witness votes, the need for an easier way to sign up, and marketing, in that order, are very important too, and yet to be addressed. Fixing the curation curve, like
@saachi said, is also high on my list - the little guy shouldn’t be punished, rather encouraged.
On the other hand, I like the 13 week power down period, but I recognize that I’m in a minority. It’s worked well historically, and I subscribe to the maxim that goes: “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I’m not worried about the lack of liquidity either. As price rises, liquidity will too. The empirical evidence (what has always happened with all coins) shows this to be true, across the board, always.
Making the platform more functional, witnesses more democratic via decaying votes from inactive users, improving onboarding, and then marketing the whole product to the world would go a long ways towards successfully moving us into the future.
