Thank you for your submission @kirlos!
As you know if you have read the group description, this group is all about getting better as writers. So with that in mind, I will critique your work below.
In ancient China, around 250 years ago, the prince of the Xiang-Dha region was set to become emperor. However, she was required by law to marry before ascending to the throne.
Because this rule also required the prince to choose the future empress, he needed to select a young woman he could entirely trust. The prince summoned all the young girls in the region on the recommendation of a wise man to pick the most acceptable candidate.
You didn't need this bit, next time just jump straight into the story.
With flash fiction, less is often more!
When she heard about the preparations for the assembly of the girls, the old woman, who had worked as a maid in the palace for years, became quite distressed. Because the woman's daughter had an unspoken crush on the prince. When the elderly woman returned home, she informed her daughter of the news, but she was concerned when she learned that her daughter had decided to appear before the prince.
This paragraph was very confusing, first of all who are the girls? I know you explain it in your opening paragraph, however that doesn't make it any less confusing.
What would have been better here is if you had said something like; 'the gathering of the princesses' or the noble women or something like that it would have been better.
Because that would have told the reader that this is a royal tale, probably set in olden times. Then if you had given either the old woman or her daughter a name, we could have seen that it was set in China.
Also rather than just telling us the woman was distressed, show us, maybe her hands were trembling as her daughter spoke to her.
Think about ways you can describe a scene, above you have explained it to me. Try and paint more of a picture next time.
After three months, not a single sprout emerged from the earth. The young woman tried everything and sought advice from farmers and gardeners. He experimented with a variety of ways and learned from them. However, none of them were of assistance; the seed was not developing. Her dreams were drifting further and further away from her with each passing day, but she was still alive in her love.
Here you could have shown us how agonising it was for her that the flower wasn't growing. Try writing this scene again.
How did she feel day by day?
Was she anxious? Angry? Frightened? Excited? Tearful?
How did she deal with those feelings?
Lastly that I'd say I do recognise that perhaps English isn't your first language, I see that you mix up he/she a few times, so I greatly commend you for writing anything that is not in your native language.
Oh and the very last point, don't use the >tag for speech just use speech marks ("...") instead.
Keep going, I can't wait for your next submission!
