When you say desegregation started in 78-79, are you talking racial desegregation? If so, wow! I didn't realise it happened so late there...

I too would love to know what happened to Silvelay, it must have been pretty weird for you guys, actually meeting someone from a warzone.

Anyway, like you say, it is fear and ignorance that is often stoked up by despotic leaders wanting to gain control over the populace. But rather like that great quote you have above; it's difficult to hate someone when you know their story!
