Nice article, I'd like to answer a particular point you made:

When people exclaim that – “Authors will leave because they won’t be making as much as they are today!” – where do they believe that these authors can/will go to earn more than the $0.00 they would otherwise get on most other websites that host user content?

For me it is not about using my time to create hot content that will be bought elsewhere.

It's more a case of me saying "Oh well, this Steemit lark isn't worth it anymore, I'll go and use my time for something more productive than creating content on a site that nobody reads or I make any cash on."

Unlike a lot of the circle-jerkers, I clearly admit that the ONLY reason I am on Steemit, is because I make money from my content. If I don't make money, I won't post, simple, and lots of people are like that, they're just afraid to say it.

If I get $50, or $100 for an article, I'll take time and effort to research and write it well. Also using my energies to come up with new and interesting subjects to keep my readers entertained.

If I get $15 dollars, and then that gets halved, then I'll go and do something more productive, like play golf. It's not like I have to sell my content.

To be fair though, as you also pointed out, this site has been in decline for at least 2 years now, and the frequency of my posts has directly matched that decline....

Hmm, long answer, maybe I'll turn it into a post! Lolz.
