I have watched most of Pierce Brosnan's and Daniel Craig's films and I have enjoyed both actors as James Bond. For me, I see it as two interpretations of one character. Where Pierce Brosnan reflects the classic 'suave' international man of mystery, Daniel Craig is a rugged, secret agent.

Between the two, I prefer Daniel Craig's. But this is because Daniel Craig came at a time when the world was changing drastically. I'm referring to 9/11, the rise of terrorism, and even a growing distrust of state actors. As a person living in these times, Daniel Craig was the Bond that made more sense. His enemies were bad actors that I hear about in the news, and his problems were also more personal than Pierce Brosnan's.

Between the two, Daniel Craig's bond also experienced more character growth. He carries the trauma he experienced from one film to the next. On one hand, this makes him a more relatable character. But, it could also make him a less effective agent, even if he is the best.

But I understand where you're coming from. It's not always a good feeling when a character you have grown to love is suddenly changed. I felt the same thing when Ben Affleck took up the Batman role after Christian Bale. For me, he was my Batman and Ben Affleck, as much as I love him in his other roles, is still not quite the Batman I know. I'll probably still feel the same when Robert Pattinson's Batman comes out, but we'll see.
