We recently visited the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee.
The highlight of our trip was the newly extended Foothills Parkway. In the 1960s, some portions of the Foothills Parkway were completed, and this road has provided breathtaking views for decades.
While the initial portion has been long completed has been long completed, a 16-mile stretch has remained incomplete due to numerous challenges. New technological challenges have allowed the National Park Service to complete the "missing link" of this highway. The bridges are an engineering marvel - seeming to float around the edge of the mountain, suspended by nothing but air.
The views from this portion of the Foothills Parkway did not disappoint!
