That was the last mini hat I knitted for my 'first' batch. I handed in the hats yesterday and said I'd knit some more for the Age Charity.
I decided to make a bee hat as a reminder to myself of one of my main achievements this year : saving a bee.
I found a bumble bee in a very dormant state inside the house and decided that it had run out of energy and needed something sweet fast - I'd read about this and what to do so I was convinced that was the right course of action.
I put some honey on a small plate and put it on a window sill outside. I put the the bee on the plate near the honey:
I even took a short video of the bee but haven’t uploaded it.
At the time, 
It was very interesting to see its proboscis in action.
The process seemed to revive the bee after a moment, so I went back indoors to just let it be 😄. Later on I found the plate without the bee on it - and no honey left (!).
The rogue gallery above was again fun to make - remember it’s just one hat and me having fun trying out different sizes of googly eyes.
The stitch I used is called ‘bee hive’ in Spanish and ‘honeycomb stitch’ in English. I watched this video tutorial as I couldn’t remember some of the details. It isn’t an easy stitch to unravel.
I endeavoured to make a bee looking pom-pom and I will continue to improve on the shape. I later found a clear tutorial so I will use it next time.
