I watched one of James' previous articles on Why Big Oil Conquered the World and it was very good. In this podcast James' explores the concept of big data and the control of our data by big corporations. The video looks at the global smart grid and smart home movement. It also analyses the pros and cons of this movement and how it will impact our lives.
After watching it I feel that I have a better understanding on where this technology is going, and whilst it is probably going to deliver us cheaper power and better internet services, it will be coupled with a loss of privacy and an increased level of surveillance into our lives.
