There is another angle that is actually causing this. The bigger shops have paid thugs to create chaos and take out the spaza shops that are being run by the foreigners. The bigger shop owner shave seen their businesses slide over the last year and this is a way of sorting it quickly. This makes more sense than just blaming lack of jobs due to the open border policy. The government should have closed the borders years ago as it has caused problems and will get worse when it actually is the main issue of the violence.
