These days having a smart television and a television box using the various apps available it opens a whole new world. The movies that are on the cinema circuit are also on your television and some films that have not even hit the cinemas yet. Last night whilst scrolling through the latest releases I stumbled upon "The Get Out" which is described as a thriller/comedy starring Russel Crowe. I enjoy Russel Crowe and thought it would at least be a quality film so I had no hesitation in watching.

The plot revolves around a night club owner played by Russel Crowe and to be fairly honest the storyline is rather weak. I think the humor is thrown in to hide the lack of a plot as the first thirty minutes is quite confusing and has you wondering if things will improve or not.

The club owner is involved with the cartel and he is trying to sell the club which the cartel do not want to see happen. There are a few twists and turns on this flimsy storyline which makes little sense most of the time. I think I could make a better story line without even having to think of one because with no exaggeration it is that poor.

If Russel Crowe was not starring in this film it would be classified as a dud and is still a dud as the story line cannot save this. I am not sure which producer thought this was a good idea to shoot this film and highlights how Hollywood is struggling.

The action scenes are exactly as the look and that is low budget and guess the budget went on paying Russel Crowe because without him there would not be a film. I am still struggling to fathom how I wasted 90 minutes of my time watching something so bad and the only upside is I never paid to watch this at a cinema.

Russel Crowe has starred in some great films and lately maybe not a good judge to go by anymore. Nuremberg was a film I could not finish which was not Crowe's fault, but more about the casting of certain actors who ruined the film for me and apparently I was not alone with the critics also slamming the film for the same reason. Maybe the older he has got those juicy roles like Gladiator have dried up or those films are no longer being made due to the high production costs.

What is clearly obvious is that whatever Hollywood is making it is not for everyone's tastes and I am seriously struggling to find anything decent. There must be 20 films or so released in the last 6 weeks and only one so far was any good and I have now watched 4 of those 20 as the others do not appeal to my tastes. Fair enough as each and everyone of us is very different in what they like to watch so there needs to be a broad selection.
