I am sure the international hotels in Thailand still served alcohol. Here in SA you cannot buy alcohol on a Sunday unless the premises is silenced and is served with food. Bottle stores are closed by law and shops that sell alcohol have that section caged off. This is due to being a family day and religion with laws being never updated.
No alcohol for 2 days is a weird one because it just sounds kind of crazy knowing Thailand and the hospitality industry relies on tourists.
