Another week ticks on and I can't believe January is just about done and dusted. I have been harping on about how consistent our growth has been and then suddenly this week is a shocker. Plus 5 new members only and we seriously need some fresh meat in here. 1023 is the grand total of members on sports this week, but I am not complaining as plus 5 is better than 0.
What is becoming more and more apparent is there seems to be less and less sports posts to curate. I was hoping for the opposite, but there have been days where I have had to go hunting and ended up empty handed with nothing to put through.
This week we have seen some announcements of some proposed changes which I am hoping will change the way some users think. The thought process is why should users posting on other front ends earn the same rewards via the sports token. This will most likely affect the actifitters more than anyone else as the proposal plans to tax half the rewards.
I know many of us use Peakd for posting purposes and to view certain tribes and I also fall into that bracket. My first port of call is peakd currently to look for decent sports content as it is a better experience as many posts such as actifit are not featured making it easier to navigate around. I honestly wish we had a separate tag for these types of posts in their own section as being on the sports feed it is chasing people away from joining.
If you were an outsider looking to join you are there because you are interested in sports and seeing what there is to offer. Finding a sports post amongst all the other stuff is not that easy and is definitely not user friendly. I saw a stat the other day that for every 100 posts on sports over 70 are not sports related such as actifit. If we trimmed that down some more I guess another 15 would be Splinterlands and posts about staking leaving us with 15 sports posts per 100 which is beyond dismal.
This is for the community to fix and instead of posting how many sports you have staked this week maybe you should start writing about sports instead. It is great to see people staking so maybe I suggest a monthly report instead of an excuse to just post saying you are stacking. Honestly what value are you bringing to the community when the sports tribe needs sports posts. I see these types of posts more like a shit post and spam as they offer no value whatsoever. I may sound harsh sometimes in how I say things, but I say it as I see it and it is just being honest and nothing else.
I will do an extra post per week highlighting exceptional posts that have gone through for curation so the community can read them and upvote if they would like. I have to do this after @ocd votes otherwise you would be jumping the gun and stealing curation rewards from the curation group that supports us.
I hope you read this far down the post and will think about what has been written as we do need positive change in the number of sports related posts that are written. This is how to grow the sports community as decent posts will be rewarded so please write about sports.
