Yesterday when doing the tick or treating in the area my neighbor mentioned that his security cameras picked up an intruder on Monday night. Well thanks for telling me almost a week later is what went through my mind. I saw the video footage of someone crawling around his yard avoiding the security beams.
There is no more footage of where and how this person disappeared and there is a remote chance he came over this section in the photograph above. I say remote as this is rather high and once over there is no escaping and that is the only exit back out. This is the only part of our boundary wall that has no electric fence. I heard a noise last week and cannot say for certain it was on Monday night or not, but I did investigate and found nothing.
The property directly behind us has a n electric fence on the boundary wall so there is no escape and the only weak link is this section of about 10 m shared by our neighbor and our property.
Apparently the neighbor directly behind my neighbors property committed suicide recently after his wife's death and the property sounds as though it is vacant for the time being. This is information we should be told as this is a weak link when it comes to security planning.
My guess is the intruder went between the other property adjoining our neighbors property and we never had the pleasure of having a visitor on the property. This took plate at around 1 am so Brock and myself were wide awake and there is no way anyone is coming here.
The neighbor is cutting down the hedge on his side and I will have garden services do the same tomorrow so an electric fence can be added to this section of wall. The neighbor is putting up another fence on the other side of the property between the other neighbor so I guess the weak point is now covered. You are only as strong as your weakest link and in this case we also have to rely on neighbors to do their part. A little puzzling it took my neighbor nearly a week to tell me about his intruder though and it could be out of embarrassment as it was on his side.
I am the only vigilant one around here and have seen no one else doing their patrols when I am taking a walk around in the early hours. Whoever this intruder is he lives amongst us and I am confident he will be caught one of these nights.
The back area of the property is a section we do not use currently and needs to be gutted and redone. The swimming pool is a waste and will be dug up and replaced. I hate fake rock and suspect this is hiding real rock below which needs to be drilled out with pneumatic tools in the new year. This is a big job and will add hours of family time and pleasure once this is all upgraded. It may sound strange and crazy we have another property that is the same size as our house that we do not even use and needs to be gutted and renovated completely. This was an entertainment area that was converted into a school creche before we purchased the property.
