This afternoon I spent a couple of hours covering the basics of HIVE with a prospective new user and hope to onboard him next week. I have tried this in the past and have had no luck as yet as each one that joined struck out or didn't actually get around to even saying "Hi" in an intro post.
Knowing this I have now taken the "go slow" approach and making them feel comfortable with what we have here as let us be honest there is a serious amount of mind bending that is going to take place. Hive is so far out of left field for the majority of people just to get to grips that this is real and no scam.
Those of us who found HIVE early on are in the fortunate position as we have the knowledge and understanding that others still need to learn. When I started out this was so far out of my comfort zone I was not sure or confident in what I was doing. This we all know takes time and will improve the more you learn as the confidence builds in your ability to succeed.
Crypto is basic as you earn via staking with the APR on offer or by trading but HIVE has other options. The idea you can earn through posting or liking something through voting is very foreign and why many struggle with the concept. Where do the tokens come from that you are able to earn and getting to grips with the free money concept is the first barrier.
Today I covered the reward pool and how the tokens are generated and why having stake is important. There is no point in onboarding someone who is going to cash out weekly as they are adding no value. The 2 hour lesson went by very quickly and covered most of what is on offer by highlighting various communities so the enjoyment factor and not the earning potential is highlighted.
I found those that come to HIVE with a preconception of making a fortune often find the exit door due to disappointment. The ones that have no idea and are prepared to work at what they have in front of them are the ones who will be here for life. This is up to the individual, but having the understanding and knowledge is what is going to keep someone active on HIVE.
HIVE is not an easy sell to new users as the learning curve is rather steep and took me nearly 12 months to basically understand everything. the best advice I can give a new user is to take your time and get to grips with how Hive is earned through the APR, Curation etc as this is a package deal that once combined will compound your growth faster than you could imagine.
Unfortunately he is a student who won't have a great outlook on life due to the high unemployment rate facing most young South Africans. The last time I checked his age group they were in the 65% unemployment rate which is not great. Having a back up plan in HIVE is a smart idea as it takes the pressure off what you are doing if you start out as a hobby and build it into something else.
The knowledge we have being on HIVE is the key to unlocking serious wealth as HIVE I have no doubt is going to explode over the coming years. Who knows how many active users will be on HIVE in 5 years from now with the onboarding that is taking place through the various front ends. I saw Leofinance is kicking this into another gear and will be keen to see how many they can bring in over the next 6-12 months. HIVE is transforming faster now than we were back in the beginning as there is definitely some momentum behind what we are all doing.
