Who would have thought a dirty card game would lead to a discussion about social media.
Funny how family get togethers can tell you so much about what you are doing is correct as the age group is so vast. With a place like Hive we don't advertise it like we should as it is a hard sell right now as no one can understand what we do. On New Years I had a few drinks with my brother in law and his family. His kids being the next generation are 12 and 16 so are definitely trend followers and are up to date with where the youngsters are.
During the course of the evening we started playing a card game called Cards Against Humanity. Basically it is an adult game which is not politically correct and one that I am pretty good at. A card is drawn and you have to select an appropriate or non appropriate answer to fill in the missing gaps. I even realised I could cheat by creating my own fill in answers without anyone being the wiser. I only cheated once and owned up immediately as it was just too easy.
I can only imagine which answer 
During one of the rounds social media was raised in one of the questions and my 12 year old nephew had a dig at his parents telling them they didn't even know what Reddit was. His dad knew, but his mother didn't as she had that blanc stare as she is a Facebook die hard. Facebook people of a certain age wont see anything else as that is their world. I didn't mention Hive as I didn't want to alienate the kid thinking I was a clever clogs and had one up on him. He had made his point which I thought was quite relevant as the kids are not pro Facebook.
All I said was is Facebook seen as being bad in your generation and he mentioned it was for old people. His brother chipped in saying they don't touch it and have moved onto other social media which I found rather interesting. Facebook was for old people which made me smile inside. These are not questions you ask kids and it is best when they come out naturally.
If the youngsters are looking for alternatives and are dissing Facebook then places like Hive are well on the way. Sites like Facebook have been around since 2004 and in some ways are completing that generation cycle. One can understand Zuckerberg's concerns as it is the new generations they need to capture in order to survive the next 20 years.
Places like Hive offering P2E gaming along with the communities could easily fill that void. If you want to stay in touch with friends and family there are other options besides Facebook which was essentially a bragging site about look what I have just bought or look where we are holidaying. Thankfully I never joined that craze as I have better things to worry about.
The next generation will want to earn whilst doing whatever it is they decide to do as that is where everything is heading. Tokenizing your free time and not wasting hours with nothing to show is where we are at.
Ok if we are honest Hive is not exactly free time as we enjoy it, but it holds monetary value at the same time. The more time you spend on the blockchain most likely you will earn more by staying busy.
One thing for certain if I had spent 4 years on Facebook instead of here I wouldn't have over $100k or $250K (ATH) in value and that sum would be a big fat 0.
The more that is developed like gaming and whatever else that follows on Hive has to have a positive impact in the number of users that join. We are definitely in the right spot and need to stick with it as the potential is not far away. The young generation hates mainstream and Hive will make sense for many.
