Is your Windows 10 PC constantly downloading the same update over and over again?

I scoured the internet for a month desperately searching for a solution. None worked separately but  then worked perfectly in combination. Here are the steps:

Step 1

In the Windows search box (lower left hand of the screen) type CMD and right-click to select "Run As Administrator".

Step 2

In the Command Prompt type CHKDSK /F and hit enter. When it prompts you with "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)". Type Y and hit enter.

Step 3

Restart the PC and then repeat step 1 to reopen Command Prompt as an administrator.

Step 4

In Command Prompt type SFC /SCANNOW and hit enter. This can take a few hours so please be patient. Restart the PC after it finishes scanning.

Step 5

Update Windows 10 via "Settings" - "Update and Security" - "Check for Updates".

Step 6

Repeat steps 1-5 after each update. I had to do about a dozen restarts and scans altogether to force the updates but now my PC is up to date.
