As much as I like this idea, I simply do not see it happening. Especially right now, after latest forks (hf21 and hf22).

This platform currently is a mess. People get downvoted left and right without knowing the reason. Content discovery is harder than ever and it's also unclear what steem is becoming. We used to think that it's a social media plarform but with latest changes I'm really not sure if this is what steem is still trying to be.

What if we set up a portion of the advertising budget (or some other means) to directly pay a couple large influencers to post on steem?

To post on steem? I'm actually failing to see how would that help to bring more new users? Only posting on those influencers existing medias would possibly make sense.
