This is a thought-provoking film by Backlight in the Netherlands about the impact of being permanently online, tracked and surveilled by corporations who want to monetise our data.
It seems they even made an app, white-spots, which traces wifi and other electro-magnetic signals so you can see how surrounded we are by companies hoping for our connectivity.
They also talk to various experts who discuss the psychology of being always online, how it is interfering with learning, social interaction and the ability to be creative.
The programme looks at programmes organised by Google (in Sri Lanka) and Facebook (in India) to connect even more people, at no cost to the government, which is a very attractive proposition for them.
We also hear from various people who have chosen to go offline, like the writer Aram Pachyan, and even whole groups, like the Aamish in the USA.
Having information at our fingertips is, of course, a big advantage, and I am really an internet evangelist, but it must also come with safeguards for privacy and safety.
