Color Grading ( Creating different feelings from an image)

Well, when I started photography, I never understood or should I say felt the
importance of coloring (color grading) a photo. I used to hear people say color
grading gives mood and feel to a particular picture, but to me, those were just sayings because I couldn’t relate.
I am just going to demonstrate that with an image I shoot with a model. I tried 3
different color grades on them and they all gave different feeling. One image,
different feel.

That is the first color grade I came up with, just by taking out or neutralizing the colors to have a bit of DE saturated colors in the image. This gives a more natural feel likes seeing it with your eyes physically.

For this second one, I played around with the colors, added reds and blues to the
shadows, added some cyan and yellows to the highlights to create the cinematic
feel, like you are seeing it in a movie. I love this one more.

For this last one, I felt like giving it a vintage look and feel, so I decided to make it black and white, fade it a little bit using curves, and then add a bit of noise to it in
photoshop.

Each time a look at these pictures on my gallery, I tend to appreciate color grading even more.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION; that image was created using my canon 60D with
50mm F1.8 lens. Used an on camera flash at 1/8 power, my camera settings were,
SS 1/160, ISO 100, F/1.8.
