One question that is commonly asked of churchgoers is this: What is God’s greatest commandment? Jesus gives the answer plainly:
Matthew 22 vs. 37
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself”
The scriptures reveals to us that God’s highest and most consistent priority is love. Out of love, He gave us His only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us. The Word of God declares:
John 3: 16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”
It would have been enough to say that, God loved the world but Scripture adds ‘so loved’, a phrase that intensifies the depth and magnitude of His love. God gave His best, His everything. And as His children, we are called to love in the same manner; to love Him with all our hearts and to love others who are made in His image.
