I don’t know about you but I have a lot of projects on my To Do List but don’t always have the funds for the supplies I need.
In order for me to continue enjoying and making the crafts I love, I sometimes have to get creative and think about ways I can be more frugal to make things work with my budget.
The project I’m working on called for embroidery thread which is something I don’t keep on hand. I normally don’t embroider and I seldom do amigurumi projects.
Instead of running to the nearest craft store I decided to look in my closet to see what I had that resembled the thread.
Hmmm, well I have plenty of yarn (that’s my main craft supply). I don’t have very thin yarn but the way yarn is weaved together gives us a chance to take strands apart for multiple purpose.
So that’s what I did. I separated the strands and made them into two instead of four and it worked perfectly for the embroidery look I needed.
As you can see in my cover photo (without revealing what I’m making yet 😜…if you already know 🤫🤨😄) I was able to embroider the eye on smoothly without the two strands separating.
No need to spend any extra money if you already have supplies that can be manipulated for your current needs. Honestly I will probably never purchase any embroidery thread now that I know thin yard threads work just as well.
I’m sure most of you have already figured this out but for those who didn’t know I hope this was a helpful tip.
