I always make it a tradition to share our wedding anniversary here on Hive. I can’t believe it’s been 15 years! This is definitely a milestone to celebrate.
There we are as caricatures in 2008 two years after our wedding. I have no idea who the artist was but it was drawn at a fancy work event we went to. We’ve had it in a frame to keep it safe ever since.
I feel like time is out of order. There’s no way it feels like I’ve been married for 15 years. It’s like you look up and 10 years has already passed. As soon as you have a baby you look up and they’re in preschool.
Where does time take off to?
Even though this year marks a milestone in our marriage we are not planning anything big. Our kiddos will be staying with my parents for five hours tomorrow night while we go out to eat and spend some quality time.
In my younger years I would have not had it that way, I would have not been satisfied. I would have wanted to plan an actual event with all the shabangs! Now, in my older years just having a few hours alone is sufficient enough.
I’m just grateful to still be here.
To be honest both my husband and I just realized last night that our anniversary was today. We looked at each other, laughed, gave a high five and said Happy Anniversary. 😄
We’ve been so busy with trying to set up a life for ourselves that we’ve been wanting. Our goal is to bring my husband home to work part time while he helps me homeschool and we both work side gigs. With our crypto investments, photography business growing (I’ll have to share more about this with you, we just did our first Quinceañera and it was amazing), his phone repair work and my blogging here (HIVE you rock!) we know we can make it happen.
Although we are busy and working to reach our goals it is still important to nourish our marriage and make sure we are still spending quality time. We’ve always said we don’t want to be strangers once we have an empty nest but instead still want to enjoy one another and have the time of our lives.
I’ve seen marriages end once the kids leave the home and I don’t want that to happen to us. I’ve talked to a few whom said they were still together only for the kids and they knew they would depart once the kids were gone. This is why it’s important to not only live for your kids but to also work on your marriage so this won’t happen.
I hope we live to see another 15 years and more together.
Lord willing we make it to see our 25th year we will definitely plan a nice event to celebrate that milestone. It will be almost like a wedding reception and I am looking forward to it. ♥️
