As many of you may have noticed, several of my posts, updates and videos on Facebook have linked you to a platform called Steemit and/or Dtube. I have had a few friends and family members ask me what these are and what I am doing. So briefly, Steemit is a decentralized social media platform built on blockchain technology and Dtube is a decentralized streaming video platform linked to Steemit. These platforms allow users to upload photos, posts, and videos easily and make money (or cryptocurrency) via the upvotes or likes on their posts and videos. There are no ads or businesses benefiting from your content. Instead the Steemit and Dtube platform allow the content providers (you) to earn from the content (posts/updates, photos, videos) posted on Steemit and Dtube. The content provider is rewarded with STEEM, a cryptocurrency, and the more popular the content, the more the payout. I think they are onto something great (a Facebook and Youtube killer) plus Facebook and Youtube are censoring content. So come join me in the Steemit and Dtube world so we can benefit together instead of benefiting corporations who want to determine by your political views what is best for you!
