So it turns out is Saint Patrick's day, and there is a LOT of great metal out there that comes from the land of Eire, inspired by gaelic and celtic tradition, and all about drinking your face off. On this ridiculously silly day, everyone is Irish, and I promise I won't pinch you, even if you don't wear green. In fact, what would actually be silly would be to not to take advantage of the opportunity to Ship Up to Boston, Drink, and Get Lucky. (Song titles? Activities? WHY NOT BOTH!) We talk about all the weird shit we dye green, drinking the last of the Guinness I brought home from my trip to Ireland, the origins of the celebration, and I end up staining my entire body green while chasing a bug around the studio. Honestly, just lower your expectations now (while turning your volume up) and it will be amazing.
We had some leprecorny good times. Yes. You read that right. I apologize for nothing. In fact, you should have realized it the second you saw me in my shirt that is printed to make me look like I am a leprechaun wearing a fancy suit. I have had it since the first day of highschool and I wear it every. single. year.
Don't forget that when I drink, you all catch me saying really stupid things and then document them forever. Oof.

I spent some considerable prep putting together a playlist with my very favorite Irish metal bands, and wove in a ton of bad puns, calls to drink excessively (that's what St. Patrick's day is all about, change my mind) and at least one reference to the fact that it really was the intrepid American people who moved the event to what we know and love today away from the traditional Feast of Saint Patrick. While the playlist isn't only bands from Ireland, the content is, because I end up sharing a lot of my favourite posts that I wrote about my time driving around the country and exploring the nooks and crannies of one of the most beautiful islands I've ever been to. Over the course of the evening we discuss how humans are ridiculous and our habit of dying things green (from entire rivers to living llamas) is both delightful and absurd. I drink the very last Guinness Foreign Extra Stout that I brought home with me from Dublin while reminiscing, and then I make a dyed green Long Vodka (a cocktail I've come to adore, first served to me at the Irish Heather pub in Vancouver) in my Guinness mug. Now, I'm not saying that at this point I'm well tipsy, but the green dye ends up on my walls, my hands, and my tongue. So. You know.
Over the course of the night I very drunkenly end up chasing multiple bugs out of the studio. If you've ever wanted to watch a grown ass woman yell repeatedly at an insect, boy oh boy do I have a treat for you. I am starting to think that perhaps I really should just embrace my future as the warlord queen of the stinkbug army, because they guys seem to really like living in my studio and if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
