The whole situation makes my blood boil too. Sadly, mankind in our fallen state is well described by scripture as sheep... We are far too readily led astray, even when we aren't wandering off on our own.

Here's another scripture that comes to mind:

“A voice was heard in Ramah,
    weeping and loud lamentation,
Rachel weeping for her children;
    she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”
