The colors are super velvety. I always love illustrators that make me appreciate colors that almost make me want to rub the paper, even though I know it is smooth, as crazy as that sounds. The artist also buries many hidden insights about the character into the scene where the character lives within the folds of shadows and light. We can already guess she is a little messy, creative, fashionable, and probably dreams about a different life she would rather live.
I used to buy books by artists like this when learning how to read, because the storytelling within the art taught me greater depth of the vocabulary words being used.
