Actually I was always taught in school that the known universe is somewhat flat like a pancake, not spherical, spiraling around the theorized center of the big bang. Was your friend implying an even flatter two dimensional universe than than the spiral pancake theory?
Of course the flat universe theory is often repeated by evolutionists who believe in the big big bang theory. I think there is some sort of marvel cosmic energy intelligently linking all things together to an origin of creation that keeps looping in new ways.
There are so many undiscovered things we cannot yet measure in our own cells, oceans, forests, ice, and of course in the greater universe. We tend to call the unmeasurable unreal, God, alien, or even pseudo science fiction, because we have no understanding of its possible existence or how it works.
At this point I think evolution theory is out the window too. Why wait for chimps to evolve over millions of years, when scientists can now create new hybrid human species by splicing the genes of different animals together? Is it so outlandish to imagine that is how some of our species in the past were made by an equally/more advanced race?
Out with old theories, in with the new.
