In Venezuela during the month of December we dedicate ourselves to decorate our homes with 🎄 Christmas decorations. In my mother's house there has never been a lack of decorative rugs, we have those that are used during the year and those specially made to place in the month of December. For this design I chose two colors that will be used during Christmas this year, blue and gold is a beautiful combination. Now I am going to describe the step by step of the elaboration of this design.

PASO 1.

STEP 1.

We start knitting with the blue yarn. We start by knitting a chain (pc) of 6 stitches. Close this chain with a slip stitch (pd) to form a ring. Inside the ring we will knit 20 double crochet stitches (pa). In the next round we will make 20 increases of (pa) to obtain 40 stitches in total. At the end we close with (pd) and cut the blue yarn. We hide the remaining yarn between the back stitches of the fabric.

PASO 2.

STEP 2.

We take the golden thread, we make a pc and we pass it through a stitch between the rows one and two that we have knitted, this stitch we are going to pass it from the back of the fabric and it must come out on the right side of the mat. Then we are going to knit through the whole visible circle between the stitches a complete round of pd. At the end we close, cut the yarn and hide the excess yarn.

PASO 3.

STEP 3.

We take the golden thread, we weave a chain and we pass it through some stitch of the last loop of the fabric in blue color. From that point, we pick up three chains that represent a "pa". Inside that same base stitch we will weave three more pa. Then we knit 6 chains in the air, we take out the crochet hook and we put it through the first high stitch (pa) formed. With the crochet hook already passed through the stitch we pull the chain of six stitches and knit a pd. We put the crochet hook inside the chains and knit 9 single crochet stitches. If the yarn is thick we can knit less chains.

We are going to repeat this step for the whole round leaving two base stitches of separation, that is to say that we are going to knit a fan of four high stitches after counting two stitches of the base, we count 1-2 and in the 3rd stitch we knit the fan with the design. As you can see the result is beautiful. I knitted two rugs; in one I knitted the fans with 9 stitches (bps) inside the chains and the other one I knitted with 6 (bps) inside the chains. The size varied a little.
