When I was young I used to go for my maths tuition at my tutor’s residence. Right above the study table there was a framed picture of this gentleman with a big smile and charismatic look. This picture also read “Don’t Worry Be Happy”.

I always wondered who he is, but never asked my tutor. Whenever I saw his picture I just looked into his eyes and it made me feel soo calm and relaxed. As they say, “silence speaks louder than words”. Much later I came across and article on him and came to know soo much about him.
He is Avatar Meher Baba. Avatar is a Sanskrit word which means“descent of God”. And Meher Baba means “Compassionate Father.” The name was given to him by his spiritual disciples back in mid 1920s.
Born on the 24th February 1894, in a Zoroastrain family, Merwan Sheriar Irani led a normal childhood. When he was 19 he discovered the path of spirituality & Gods-realization. He followed the path and rediscovered himself as the Perfect Master.
Within couple of years he had a good number of followers and disciples. With them he established Meherabad, an Ashram Community in Ahmadnagar which is 250km away from the city of Mumbai in India. He had followers from all over the globe. He was loved and respected by many.
In July 1925, he started observing silence which lasted for 44 years. It was a way for him to connect to himself and have perfection spirituality. He never spoke a single word for 44 years. The only way he communicated was pointing out alphabets on the alphabet board and letting his disciple read them out. He also communicated trough various beautiful hand gestures.

He was loved by many all around the globe. Avatar Meher Baba visited Europe, America, Australia & many Asian countries where his follows graciously hosted him. During the journey he spread the message of love and harmony to the world.
He followed and respect all religion. He was knows as the Prophet, the Buddha, the Christ, the Messiah of this age. He always took care of the underprivileged. He lived his life for the people. On 31st January 1969 he left his physical form to live in the hearts of the ones who loved him.

Till today he has 1000s of followers who visit his ashram in Meherabad from all around the word. Known as the Meher Pilgrim Retreat, it is one of the most peaceful places I have ever been.Meher Baba’s Tomb at Meherabad’s hill has become a site of pilgrimage.
A man with soo much wisdom and spirituality who once walked this earth is a blessing by itself. There are 100s of Meher Centers all around the globe where people meet and sing and remember him. After discovering all about him & his persona, I too would agree and tell everyone I meet, My Friend, “Don’t worry Be Happy”. Jai Baba !
