Hey everyone, Spring is here, well technically we are a month or two deep into Summer already and the fruit trees have started bearing fruit, how magnificent!
The first pic we have absolutely delicious Peaches, I truly have never seen this many peaches on a Tree, sadly as we did not prune these in Winter they get so heavy that the branches actually break. Crazy right?
Next Season before they bear fruit we will be trimming these branches, higher yield and less loss as well as easier to manage and harvest from.
When last did you see that many fruit on one branch? I was rather surprised too to be honest, we have also had a rather dry season to date, hoping for rain soon!
The above Peaches can literally be picked off and eaten as they are ripe falling off and or been ravaged by the plethora of fruit eating birds in the area, the below peach is small and not quiet ripe yet!
I thought I would drop a 'sneaky' pic of the Watermelon in there too, naturally not a tree but doing incredible well, I think it is a Watermelon at-least I did plant Tahitian Butternut too which resembles this? Time will tell I guess!
It really is quiet a mind set change to be able to walk into your backyard and just pick fruit off trees as we do. Society has been so accustomed to buying everything off shelves, many benefits of doing it this way, cost and time savings naturally but no pesticides and healthier it does not get more, than this, been the best!
Below we have some nectarines busy ripening and below that Oranges from last season still not picked or falling off! I will need to address that pronto ;)
How about a guess at what these lovely fruit are? Any ideas?
Folks that have these in their garden will know exactly what they are, these are delicious Apples, I plan to harvest in around a month at a guess, I have been nurturing watering every second day, they promise to be rather large very red and nice and healthy too, no doubt.
I will be putting these Apples with some Persimmons as well as Kale, Spinach and Carrots in to a blender and making smoothies, health has truly never looked so good. It is widely spoken health rule to do the daily ABC.... Apples, Beetroot and Carrot's, now if my beets will just grow faster!
The really incredible thing I feel, or one of them is that these trees generally thrive in subtropical climates, we are certainly not in a subtropical climate and currently with this heatwave and drought, semi drought at best one could say, there must be much ground water to hydrate all these magnificent fruit trees!
Limes or Naartjies above (I think) some type of citrus for certain and below would you believe even a Pear Tree, this is the first season I have actually seen this Tree bear fruit!
Yes these (tomatoes) are also a fruit, technically this is not a tree however ;)
A few more Trees that we have on the premisis that I did not capture in these pics Kiwi's, Grape's although technically those are vines and need some structure/terrace to grow on, we also have Mango Tree's which I saw today started bearing fruit, Persimmons, Lemon's and Apricots, not a bad spread right?
Nature the incredible, be blessed and have a magic weekend.
Cheer$;)
