I see steemit as a blockchain that is interlocked with bitcoin through the exchanges. But the value is on the platform, the Steem coins not so much, they are representation of traffic but lack the decentralization features that I makes a block chain really solid.

At the end bitcoin is still the strong foundation that gives the other coins their value.
